Job Description - ICT Support Technician

JOB OVERVIEW:

Our client commissions and supports complex systems worldwide 24/7. Based mainly in Stellenbosch, South Africa, we are looking to hire an ICT Support Technician for our main office to join the IT Department.

The incumbent will primarily offer support for personnel, their work equipment and services, and other ICT infrastructure services of the company during office and standby hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support via in-person, telephone, and email for all ICT servers, hardware, software, and associated peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, WIFI/VPN connectivity, and printer peripherals.
  • Document and monitor support requests within the IT Support Ticket system for tracking and analysis.
  • Proactively update users on the progress of support calls and procurement requests.
  • Monitor Our client Systems Health locally and remotely for continuity.
  • Track ICT user hardware and software assets.
  • Support general IT infrastructure and maintenance of the Our client Network Infrastructure, including troubleshooting and access control systems management.
  • Coordinate response and callouts, manage fire safety systems, and assist with system testing and commissioning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A 3-year tertiary qualification from CTU, Centurion Academy, University of Technology, etc.
  • Certifications like A+, N+, MCSE, Cisco CCNA, RHSE are preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES & TECHNOLOGIES:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Exchange Server, WSUS, AD, and various technologies.
  • Experience in installing and troubleshooting OS like Windows 10, Mac, and server applications.
  • Knowledge of routing, switching, IP addressing, FW rules, network cabling, and monitoring software.
  • Familiarity with virtualization, network switch administration, video conferencing, and scripting skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally and handle telephonic and onsite support effectively.
