Are you a Pharmacist looking to relocate to Makhado, Limpopo...then this is a great opportunity for you! An emerging private hospital group who develop and manage their portfolio hospitals by serving rural and peri-urban clients across three provinces is looking for an experienced Pharmacist.
POSITION INFO:
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medications to patients and offering expertise in the safe use of prescriptions. They provide valuable advice on health and wellness, conduct health screenings, and oversee the management of medication therapy. The Pharmacist ensures compliance with regulatory standards, maintains accurate patient records, and supports the pharmacy team in delivering excellent customer service. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Dispensing of medication to patients, wards and theatre: Rx and TTO turnaround time < 1 hour. Follow dispensing procedure. Interpret and verify Rx – check legality and consider generic substitution. Prepare, process and sign off Rx. Internal orders – follow HIS system, communicate short supplies, pack medication in correct container (use fridge box if applicable), and send stock to department
- Maintaining of high professional and ethical standards in accordance to GPP. Follow procedures accordingly
- Manage formularies and implement new formulary items. Formulary compliance > 95%. Monitor formulary / Non-formulary compliance
- Liaise with nursing staff and doctors. Contact prescriber/ nursing staff accordingly with regards to problems related to diagnosis, authorization, etc. and TTO limits. Assist theatre and ward stock controllers if needed. Doctor visits – schedule 2 per month, keeps records and ensure feedback
- Clinical pharmacy – ward rounds. Market and promote function of a Pharmacist. Advise/ assist nursing staff on storage and administration of medication. Advice doctors on doses, TPN, drug interactions etc
Requirements: - Qualified and registered Pharmacist with the South Africa Pharmacy Council
- 3-5 years of experience as a Pharmacist at a private hospital
- Available to perform on-call, weekend and public holiday duties as per roster
- Excellent inter-personal skills
- Maintain good relationships with doctors, hospital staff and suppliers
- Computer literacy essential and knowledge of HIS (Hospital Information System) would be an advantage
