TURNER MACHINIST – SA STEELWORKS AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWN The Machine Shop Department currently has a Turner Machinist role available for a hardworking, dedicated individual to join their team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Examine detailed drawings or specifications to establish job, material and equipment requirements
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance practices on existing equipment
• Ability to strip, examine and identify mechanical defects on equipment under repair
• Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling and or shaping
• Slotting or drilling metal stock or components
• Ensuring that the quality of work is up to the required standards
• Fit and assemble metal parts and tools or sub- assemblies
• Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools
• Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies
• Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Qualifying Criteria

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
• Approved and recognized Trade Test qualification ( Turner machinist )
• Minimum of 5 plus years relevant working experience within the engineering or metal industry
• Extensive knowledge of power tools
• Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit)
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Hands on practical approach to the job
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules
• Ability to work under challenging conditions
• Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English)
• Must be prepared to work overtime when required

Standard hours 07:30 – 17:00 Monday - Thursday 07:30 – 16:00 Fridays May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements
