Civil Engineer (QAQC)

Our client has a big solar/substation project in Upington and is looking for a  Civil Engineer - QAQC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) - PV (Photovoltaic) & BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

Job Title: Civil Engineer (QAQC) - PV & BESS

Location: Upington, South Africa

Salary: Market related

Closing date: End May 2024

Employment Type: Contract work

Responsibilities:

• Review project specifications, drawings, and procedures related to civil construction for PV and BESS installations.
• Develop and implement comprehensive quality plans and procedures specific to civil works, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of civil construction activities, including foundation construction, structural installations, and cable trenching.
• Verify material compliance and quality assurance throughout the construction phase.
• Identify and address non-conformities or deviations from quality standards and recommend effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate closely with testing and commissioning teams to ensure readiness of civil components for system integration and operation.
• Monitor and enforce strict safety and environmental compliance during civil construction activities.
• Prepare detailed QAQC reports documenting findings, recommendations, and compliance status.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and compliance certificates.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in QAQC roles focused on civil construction.
• Experience in Solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
• Solid understanding of QAQC principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards applicable to renewable energy projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
• Certification in quality management (e.g., ISO 9001) is highly desirable.
