This position is at an intermediate to mid-senior level within our consulting team and involves technical expertise in water treatment design-related projects.Key Responsibilities:Assisting in executing engineering projects by delivering on technical studies through the application of process engineering and design principles.Supporting the group in executing water treatment projects including:Site investigation participationActive and passive water treatment technology applicationsClosure water treatment costing developmentDevelopment of closure water treatment roadmapsWater savings opportunity identification and developmentTender documentation development and adjudication assistanceIdentification of key technical risks in process design, and proposal of solutions to mitigate or eliminate these risks.Aid in planning, organising and executing engineering design work in accordance with the required governance processes.Interact with multi-discipline team and network with licensors and vendors if and when required.Prepare and/or provide input into cost estimates.Ensure all technical documentation, designs and drawings are reviewed, signed-off, properly documented and catalogued.Attend site and other meetings, to action deliverables timeously and effectivelyEnsure effective systems are implemented for good record keeping – designs, files, reports, drawings, etc.Network and liaise with other staff working on projects at all levels as well as colleagues from other business units.Provide technical analysis and monitoring expertise on issues to clients (external & internal) on projects within the water industry and liaising with WSP’s advanced testing laboratory.Ensure suitability of technical proposals. Preparing proposals and reports for clients and building business relationships with clients.Compile letters, reports and prepare tender documentation for approval by the Project LeaderCompliance with WSP’s Quality Management SystemThe incumbent must be able to undertake and review associated works, designs and demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of contract and construction procedures. (The candidate must demonstrate highly specialised design)The position is head office based; however, the successful candidate must be prepared and free to travel extensively both within South Africa and within the African Continent to manage projects and engage in client and other meetings.Participating in safety leadership in health & safety (HSSE incident reporting).Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior engineers.Planning, developing schedules, coordinating and overseeing manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines.Supervising, coordinating and reviewing/evaluating activities carried out by junior engineers.Have the ability to thrive successfully in a diverse (culture, roles, positions and levels, etc.) work environment.Foster teamwork and collaborationHealth and Safety:Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you.Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero HarmEmbracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times.QualificationsRelevant degree (BEng or BSc) in the Chemical Engineering including 4-7 years plus experience post-graduation with developed specialist skills in the area of water treatment and process design.Familiarity with water treatment technologies such as RO, UF etc. is essential.Postgraduate degree (BEng or BSc) in Water Utilisation Engineering will be advantageous.Professional registration at Engineering Council of South AfricaProficient in MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Projects etc.Proficient in engineering software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Biowin, WAVE etc.Proficiency in other engineering related software will be considered beneficial.Additional InformationWhat's in it for you?What if we can have work-life balance?
