Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor will be required to produce estimates and perform cost control activities. QS’s should be able to carry out measurement of construction works, manage the contract through monthly valuations, variations control, contract administration and assessment of claims.

Key Performance Areas includes:

Financial discipline in the areas of cost management and control is achieved during the project execution phase in two stages as follows:

• Contract execution phase
• Contract close-out stage

Contract execution Stage

• ”As- built” measurement of re‑measurable works to assist project controls in updating the pricing and approving contractor’s payment certificates.
• Verification and approval of contractor’s claim for additional/extra works, assisting Engineering and Procurement Managers in preparation of variation orders (Design Change Requests), Verifying and approving contractor’s progress payment certificates, assisting Project Controls in preparation of invoices and claims, assisting Planning Engineer to update project schedule, etc .Assisting Planning department in preparation of monthly progress reports reflecting latest contract variations and forecasting re-measurement variations based on the re-measured and valued quantities
• Assisting internal and external audit teams at site in terms of technical and commercial auditing. Attend all site progress meetings Attend cost management meetings with the Project Controls group as required.
• Establish a cash flow forecast for monthly progress payment certificates based on the financial valuation of work over the accepted contractual programme.

Close-Out Stage

Reconcile all materials and plant equipment taking into consideration all as-built measurements, design change requests and other site instructions. Assisting Project Controls in reconciliation of the project finance in terms of all budgeted costs, additional claims and variation orders. Provide input to the contract close-out report for construction contracts in respect of financial and quantitative information including the provision of related

Qualifications

• Relevant Diploma or degree in quantity surveying
• 10 years relevant Quantity Surveyor experience preferably within the Engineering / Power Generation Industry
• Experience working on large, infrastructure projects.
• Full Quantity Surveying skills including: Pre-contract negotiation; Tender issue and evaluation; Pre and post contract commercial functions; Contract administration; Specialist areas of Quantity Surveying practice; Change order evaluation; Claim analysis and finalisation. Managing contractors and subcontractors to final account.
