PURPOSE OF ROLE To lead and direct the nursing service in the hospital RESPONSIBILITIES Compile, implement and monitor the hospital-specific nursing strategy Drive and support a culture of quality nursing care and patient safety Manage resources to ensure optimal operational efficiency Manage the patient experience Lead and manage people in the nursing department Manage key stakeholder relations EDUCATION: 3 or 4-year Diploma or 4 year Degree in Nursing; Nursing Management qualification Nursing Education qualification (Advantageous) EXPERIENCE At least 5 years professional experience in a tertiary healthcare institution; 2-3 years management experience in a tertiary healthcare institution Patient Safety management; Infection Prevention and Control management; Nursing Education REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Auditing and accreditation processes Clinical risk management Computer literate (Microsoft Office) Continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies Financial management Healthcare industry Human resource processes including employee relations Infection prevention and control Management of staff productivity Nursing functional knowledge Patient complaint management Relevant nursing legislation
