The Financial Accountant position reviews the financial transactions, performs reconciliations versus both internal and external documents and creates financial reports from that information to management.  

Key Performance Outputs

• Ensure that inventory and budgetary adjustments are correctly reflected during journal approval processes.
• Create outstanding POs at month end and investigate any errors to ensure appropriate action is taken.
• Review the allocations in the GL to ensure all allocations are appropriate and correct.
• Maintain fixed asset register on internal system and add all assets acquired as needed.
• Run depreciation on a monthly basis.
• Draft dashboard reporting based on results and draft cash flow analysiss as per Treasury requirements.
• Draft the monthly reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts according to SOP.
• Verify stock counts with the relevant stock controller and ensure that the count reflects correctly on all internal systems.
• Assist in the audit process and in the preparations of returns, including BAS.
• Cross-check and release creditors payments.
• Review and authorise adjustments as needed.
• Identify when provisions and accruals are required in the normal business flow and provide supporting documents.
• Review debtors’ age analysis in conjunction with global finance team and escalate if needed.
• Ensure that finance records are kept as per company standards.
• Ensure that transactions with foreign currency are handled appropriately and are accounted for as per company policy.
• Evaluate foreign balances (GL, AP & AR), to ensure that timeous corrections can be made when it is not done correctly by the automated system. 
• Support the business function with queries and requests ensuring that these are within the company’s policies and procedures as well as regulatory rules. Evaluating the impact on the accounting function.
• Accurate and timeous reporting as per company policy.
  

Requirements

Minimum Education/Qualification/Experience

• National Diploma in Finance/ B Com Accounting
• Netsuite / ERP knowledge an advantage
• Minimum 3 - 4 years of work experience in a similar role

Functional/Technical

• Computer literacy: MS Office (with advanced Excel skills)
• Excellent command of Language and Email etiquette.
