Job Description

Role Summary

  • Reporting to the General Manager, the Sales Representative is the liaison between the company (LAF and the factory) and the customer.
  • The Sales Representative has to ensure constant contact with the customers, and searching for new customers. He has to be up to date with the latest innovations and improvements on his area of company equipment, and fully trained in order to promote the correct company machine in the correct configuration to the customer. He needs to ensure prompt and accurate information in an efficient way to the customers at all times.

Accountabilities / Key Performance Areas

  • Sell tower crane equipment
  • Contact person and liaison with customers and is the link between LAF and the factories.
  • Needs to be technically knowledgeable on the company machines and their functions
  • The Sales Representative is required to travel within South Africa, into Africa and then also abroad to our factories when required.
  • Will have to entertain customers on a regular basis

Responsibilities

  • Sell machines and achieve target sales
  • Responds to sales enquiries and is in contact with existing customers. His main duty is also to research the market and find new opportunities and customers, and to exploit it.
  • Ensure he is technically knowledgeable and also up to date with the new innovations and technology on company machines, in order to promote and configure the correct machines to the customers. This technical ability is required in order to compile offers, assist with feasibility studies and to complete the technical requirements on Tenders.
  • Needs to keep in mind he is always representing company and needs to be professional, efficient and up to date at all times
  • Entertaining customers is part of the job, and this could imply working after hours. He is required to manage his time efficiently
  • Liaises between the admin department and company factories with regards to configurations, lead times, pricing, availability and deliveries
  • Gives monthly feedback reports on sales calls and results
  • Actively participates in brainstorming and budgets, and give as much input from the customers side as possible, in order to assist the department in growing and improving

Inherent Requirements

Experience

  • Specify: Minimum 4 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service and sales. Extensive product knowledge of company equipment (Mobile and Crawler Cranes).

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook. Knowledge on Word, PowerPoint and Excel will be beneficial. Knowledge of internal company programs such as VIS is required.
