Job Specification: Clinical Research and Development Specialist

Location: Gauteng

The position: Our client is seeking a Clinical Research and Development Specialist to join their team in Gauteng on a permanent basis. The role involves researching, developing, and maintaining funding guidelines, as well as assessing the clinical and health economic attributes of innovative health technologies. The Specialist will also ensure team members are trained to apply recommendations consistently to various functions within the organisation.

Functions:

  • Research and develop funding guidelines for Hospital Benefit Management teams.
  • Assess the clinical and health economic attributes of innovative health technologies.
  • Develop and maintain health technology assessment guidance documents.
  • Train team members to consistently apply recommendations within the organisation.
  • Ensure team members are trained to apply recommendations consistently to pre-authorisation, case management, and hospital audit functions.
  • Analyse and evaluate research data to contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify research needs and priorities.
  • Stay updated on developments and advancements in the field of clinical research and healthcare technology.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Office, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Afrikaans with strong interpersonal communication.
  • Team player with a caring attitude.
  • Flexible in adapting to changes and management decisions.
  • Proficient in problem-solving techniques and record keeping.
  • Leadership skills and ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Clinical Diploma or Degree.
  • Registration with appropriate clinical professional body (e.g. South African Nursing Council, South African Pharmacy Council [SAPC]).
  • Minimum 5 years' clinical experience (e.g. nursing practitioner, pharmacist).
  • Minimum 3 years' managed healthcare experience.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Assertiveness and emotional maturity.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with an open-minded approach to problem-solving.
