Job Description - Mineral Resource Management Manager

Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining Proprietary Limited is an independently operated and managed, black empowered manganese ore producer. Tshipi é Ntle means 'beautiful steel' in the local Tswana language. Tshipi is not only the largest single manganese mine and exporter from South Africa but is also one of the five largest manganese ore exporters globally. Based in the Kalahari Manganese Field (KMF), the largest manganese-bearing geological formation in the world, Tshipi Borwa Mine is a shallow open-cast operation developed on a large and homogenous ore body with a currently confirmed life of mine reserve of approximately 30 years.KEY AREAS Strategic Perspective Strategic plan development and Implementation Developing and implementing the strategic mine plan to maximise value from mineral resource exploitation. Strategic alignment of MRM planning with overall business plan and objectives. Ongoing evaluation and alignment of MRM plan to the operational strategy and direction and objectives of the mine. Ensuring mining processes, policies and practices are compliant with relevant statutory requirements. Mining strategy aligned to operational objectives of the mine. Effective, regular communication of strategy to relevant, defined, stakeholders. Quarterly reporting on performance against strategic objectives and any deviations from strategy. Financial and budgetary effectiveness Interpret the strategic and operational requirements of the MRM function and integrate financial needs to ensure the availability of financial resources. Deliver and manage an annual budget that represents best estimate of costs and supports the attainment of the organization and business unit's financial objectives. Develop and Benchmark 'should cost models' to cost the mine plan. Allocate and monitor the utilization of allocated funds to enable the attainment of objectives. Regularly review and proactively monitor and appropriately respond to spend against budget. Manage and report expenditure: Budget variance % variance (actual vs planned). Cost saving initiatives % reduction on directly managed cost of production from previous year. Internal Business Process Perspective MRM process excellence Manage the MRM activities and processes of the mine, including: Exploration and ore identification. Surveying Feasibility studies. The development of an optimal ore extraction plan. Highly skilled with Whittle pit optimization and scheduling Long- and medium-term planning. Reporting, reconciliation, and controls including mass and metal balance. Ore testing and grade control. Ore evaluation. Quality assurance of ore extracted according to the mining plan and customer requirements. Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the MRM function in line with MRM best practice. Assessment, development and implementation of people practices, processes, technology, and systems to aid the operationalization of the MRM plan. Geological losses: % variance of actual vs planned graded ore extracted Stockpile grade management. % compliance to grade requirements Internal Business Process Management - IBP Mapping % progress against plan (number of processes identified vs mapped). Accuracy of mine/load port/discharge port assay results % variance between mine/load port/discharge port assay results. Document management. % compliance to document management control system procedure IT system utilization Independent annual review of consistent use of all functionalities of all IT systems under control of the function Governance Ensure and monitor adherence to EMP and water use license requirements, safety and security programs and objectives. Ensures adherence to the groups environmental management programme and policies Develop, review, and maintain company policies to ensure the implementation with appropriate departmental procedures, operating procedures, and systems according to organisational objectives. Manage and coordinate the audit/review process to ensure adherence to organisational policies, procedures, and standards. Continually reviews mining and mineral policies and procedures to ensure that they are effective and support the broader objectives of the business unit/organisation. Legally compliant in all areas Risk management strategy in place. All governance requirements are met against approved frameworks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Relevant bachelor's degree in mining, geology, or related disciplines (i.e. MRM management, mining engineering, surveying etc. - NQF 7).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

Post graduate degree in mining, geology, or related field disciplines. Project management is beneficial. Completed management development program (MDP) beneficial.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

10 years' experience in MRM or technical services roles 5 years managerial experience. Experience with using geological, geophysical, and engineering data. Experienced in using geological and planning software, geo- modelling tools and databases.
