Junior Logistics Coordinator

Description

A dynamic company in the apple and pear export industry and Fresh Produce Exporters Forum (FPEF) member, based in Somerset West, is offering an opportunity for a Junior Logistics Coordinator.

Purpose:  The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating bookings, and commensurate procedures, of produce to be transported to international clients between the commercial team and freight forwarders. The Logistics Coordinator is accountable for actioning the processes timeously and accurately and for ensuring that all relevant parties understand instructions correctly. Reporting to the Logistics Manager.

Knowledge and experience required

• Tertiary qualification in logistics or supply chain management.
• Willing and eager to learn attitude
• Must be able to work independently and must be able to work under pressure.
• Good communication and influencingskills.
• Problem solving and decision making capabilities
• Goal orientated
• Take initiative
• Resilience and tenacity.
• Able to work long & flexible hours, as well as weekends. (Rotational weekend duty)
• Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
• Knowledge of legislation.
• Knowledge of stock management principles: reconciliations, stock accuracy.
• Knowledge of compliance (DALRRD Special markets exports requirements, PPECB Market requirements, Top-fruit export Volumes
• Computer literate. (MS Office: Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, Planner; Navision)
• Strong mathematical background
• Fluent in English, multilingual environment.
• Afrikaans speaking advantageous
