Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Production Planning Manager to lead the areas of master scheduling, rough cut planning, production planning, and managing enabling and buffer stock to ensure the successful execution of manufacturing and meeting customer commitments. This role provides overall leadership, development, and supervision of the planning department, focusing on improving efficiency and accuracy in production scheduling. The successful candidate will have a results-driven mentality and excel in coaching, motivating, and leading a team to achieve ambitious targets. They will support the company's goals and strategic initiatives through collaborative teamwork across departments.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate plans to ensure on-time delivery.
- Engage with Tech Admin and Procurement to align with the Master Production Plan
- Guide planning to manage production constraints effectively.
- Conduct S&OP planning in collaboration with the client.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials and buy-outs.
- Interface with Product Line Engineers for planning and forecasting customer orders to meet shipment schedules.
- Determine best practices and develop actionable insights and recommendations for current business operations and the ERP system to enhance decision-making capabilities.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to ensure the successful execution of inventory control strategies and production control initiatives.
- Manage item coverage levels, including min/max/multiple order quantities, cycle count procedures, and daily/monthly cycle count processes to optimize production, minimize inventory costs, and meet corporate requirements.
- Report quarterly on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory levels and inventory turns to improve data-driven inventory control decision-making.
- Assist in preparing month-end journal entries, reconciliation, and final inventory reports.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Maintain cleanliness in designated workspaces by practicing 5S principles to reduce safety risks.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System standards.
Requirements : Qualification and Skills
- Tertiary qualification on production management or equivalent
- Degreed Mechanical Engineer or related qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a heavy engineering manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years production supervision / management experience.
- Previous experience in working in a unionized environment.
- Intermediate Computer Proficiency on Microsoft AX.
