Job Description - Cost Reduction Intelligence Data Scientist

To build a more agile and resilient Supply Chain the commoditized execution and digitalisation of processes is a key focus whilst driving operational excellence.

The Cost Reduction Intelligence Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing value delivery across the different businesses. It is responsible for gathering and analyzing data to identify potential value delivery opportunities. For this, it will leverage data mining techniques, scrutinise existing processes and use cross functional data to identify inefficiencies and areas where cost can be reduced. Furthermore, this role involves a strategic component where the specialist collaborates with decision-makers to prioritise and implement cost reduction initiatives that align with Anglo American’s broader business goals and the achievement of the value delivery targets.

Job Description



18 months' contract, remote working arrangement available.

The role provides advisory support to enable the achievement of value delivery targets through the identification of cost reduction opportunities, using cross functional data sets, monitoring progress and making sure that records reflect the actions taken for these purposes.

Performance & Delivery

General

  • Contribute to the development of the Data, Reporting and Analytics strategy, working closely with the CoE to ensure alignment on the future of data structure to facilitate the value identification process.
  • Analyse cross functional data to identify high impact opportunities for value delivery, ensuring their relevance and feasible deployment on the different businesses.
  • Keep records of value identified and elaborate reports to showcase potential as well as actuals achieved.
  • Perform analysis of inventory, market and own Anglo American data to address targets and maximise impact of value delivery initiatives.

Commercial value delivery

  • Ensure data, analysis and reporting efforts enable value delivery, driving the gestation of new initiative on the value delivery pipeline.

Supply Chain Excellence

  • Provide advisory support with defining new ways of working, enabling systems, tools and templates and advanced analytics.
  • Analyse reports and dashboards to ensure delivery of digital and analytical solutions.
  • Interpret data analysis and benchmarking data to compile relevant analytics and reporting improvement plans.
  • Support broad scanning activities to keep up to date with innovative approaches and opportunities.
  • Support the compilation of research and data analysis for best practice definitions.
  • Collaborate closely with global and regional teams to identify and address issues, gain insights from users and drive focus on continuous improvement in the Data, Reporting and Analytics space.

Qualifications



Qualification: An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent, alternatively relevant tertiary qualification and proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

Experience: Practical experience in relevant field

Desirable: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

Technical Knowledge:

  • Sound technical knowledge across the Supply Chain value chain, ability to integrate and understand what drives excellence
  • Sound Data Analytics and Reporting knowledge
  • Good commercial knowledge
