Job Description

To provide medical pathology and administrative services in designated regions of the organization, JDJ Diagnostics requires a Technical Lab Manager to plan, direct, and manage main Lab staff, material, and financial resources.
Key Responsibilities

Give technical and laboratory administration and support services overall direction and management to meet organizational objectives, accomplish specified objectives, and maximize profit and efficiency.
Fulfil the role of a Senior Medical Technologist as and when required.
Participates in annual planning processes for budgets, marketing, staffing, and operational issues (such as the opening and closing of laboratories, etc.) pertaining to technical matters in support of the achievement of organizational strategy and objectives as a member of the senior management team in a region.
To ensure that the region is consistently able to provide a high quality, cost-effective, and safe service, monitor the implementation of service levels and quality standards, ISO 9000, 15189, and SANAS accreditation requirements, quality assurance including quality control, health and safety, standard operating procedures, turn-around time targets, and service level agreements.
To guarantee that service standards are fulfilled, management of personnel, including recruitment, mentorship, discipline when appropriate, and performance management, is used with laboratory staff.
Management of the laboratory staff, including hiring, corrective action where required, and performance management, ensures efficient and effective service delivery.
In order to ensure the most efficient use of resources, the optimization of stock levels, and cost reduction at all times, equipment maintenance is monitored, including enforcing compliance with service contracts with service suppliers, asset management, the purchase of goods, and staff overtime expenditure.
National Diploma: Biomedical Technology / Bachelor of Health Science: Laboratory Science / NQF level 6 or 7.
Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathology.

Experience

+Min 5 - 8 years’ experience.
2 - 3 Years supervisory experience.
Training experience will be advantageous.

Required skills

Strong analytical and documentation skills.
Broad knowledge of basic laboratory techniques.
Previous experience in a laboratory or medical setting.
Comfortable using medical technologies and lab equipment.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to properly clean and maintain equipment.
Willingness to work in a team.
Communication skills (Verbal, writer presentation). Computer Literacy.
Time Management and Evaluation skills.
Teamwork skills and the ability to work in a demanding situation.
