Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Process and finalise applications and correspondence of varying complexity within defined parameters. 

  • Assist in the planning of inspections, lead the inspection process and report on inspections.

  • Ensure compliance with the reporting requirements for cross-border transactions to prevent the abuse of the financial system and support the regulation of financial institutions.

  • Enhance risk-based supervisory practices by embedding a data-driven decision-making culture.

  • Supervise the preparation and finalisation of reports, such as statistical reports and management information.

  • Provide input to stakeholder engagements with institutional investors, Authorised Dealers, National Treasury and other regulators. 

  • Contribute to the operational plan of the section in line with the strategic focus areas of the department.

  • Lead and guide the delivery and task execution of team members and provide input into the evaluation of their performance and development needs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, South African Reserve Bank policies, standards and procedures, including control procedures aimed at mitigating risks.

  • Identify and implement process and system improvements within the division.


Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • a Bachelor of Commerce degree or an equivalent NQF level 7 qualification;

  • five to eight years’ experience in financial or banking services; and

  • knowledge of the Currency and Exchanges Manual for Authorised Dealers and exchange control regulations as well as experience in conducting inspections will be an advantage.

-verbal and written communication (including presentation and report writing);

  • a drive for results;

  • competence in Microsoft Office and workflow packages (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint);

  • financial and business acumen; and

  • the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
