32001340 - Senior Manager (Engineering)

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Manages the implementation of engineering infrastructure, housing and hostel development and redevelopment projects.
• Provides an advisory service to Councillors and communities on how the business plan addresses their needs.
• Formulates the strategic direction for the Department in conjunction with the Deputy Head.
• Keeps abreast of relevant legislation and monitors risk and report on progress at branch level.
• Provides technical support and engineering inputs to relevant Department.
• Develops the Branches operational plans and ensures implementation thereof.
• Sources Provincial funding for projects and liaises with the Provincial Department of Housing with regards to building approvals and financial issues.
• Maintains statistical records of projects and maintains compliance to hostel business plans and cashflows.
• Manages and controls staff and report on the overall performance of the Branch.
• Prepares tender reports and other project related reports and presents them to the relevant committees.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (NQF Level 7) in Civil Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Civil Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 7 years relevant experience of which 5 years must be post registration experience.
• Computer Literacy.

Preferred Requirements:

Special Conditions:

1. Requires broad based knowledge of engineering, including implementation of development projects.
2. Requires knowledge of Council policy, procedures and protocol.
3. The posts of Senior Manager (Engineering) are interchangeable within the Department at the discretion of the Deputy Head.
