Our client, a heavy industrial engineering and manufacturing company, is seeking an Accountant to manage its Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. The successful candidate will maintain accurate customer and supplier accounts, process collections and payments, resolve account queries and support the Financial Manager with financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, taxation, audit and compliance activities.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate customer and supplier accounts and supporting records.
Prepare and process customer invoices, credit notes, statements and supplier invoices.
Allocate customer receipts and monitor outstanding accounts.
Follow up on overdue customer payments and maintain accurate debtor age analyses.
Match supplier invoices to purchase orders, goods received notes and supporting documentation.
Perform debtor, creditor, bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare supplier payment schedules and supporting documents for approval.
Resolve customer and supplier account queries and investigate discrepancies.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journals, accruals and provisions.
Support the preparation of management accounts, financial reports and annual financial statements.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and variance reporting.
Support cash flow monitoring and maintain accurate banking and cashbook records.
Assist with VAT returns, statutory submissions and compliance requirements.
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Assist with improvements to financial processes, systems and internal controls.
Requirements
A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting or a closely related field.
A minimum of two years’ relevant accounting or financial working experience.
Practical experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Experience preparing account reconciliations, journals and financial reports.
A good understanding of month-end accounting processes.
Sound knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or project-based environment would be preferred.
Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, costing and variance analysis would be advantageous.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills,
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and relevant financial reporting standards would be advantageous.
