Accountant – Stellenbosch, Western Cape

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join a well-established fine foods distribution and import business in Stellenbosch. This opportunity is ideal for a finance professional with strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage financial processes accurately within a fast-paced commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  Manage day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.

  Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting schedules.

  Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Perform bank, supplier and customer reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor cash flow, expenses and financial transactions to support effective financial management.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Manage VAT calculations, submissions and other relevant tax-related requirements.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain accurate records relating to imports, supplier payments and associated financial transactions.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax legislation and internal financial procedures.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Liaise with suppliers, customers, auditors and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy and financial controls.
  
  

  
  

Requirements:

• 
  

  Proven experience in an accounting role, preferably within distribution, importing, wholesale or a similar commercial environment.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  A relevant accounting qualification would be advantageous.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with VAT, tax compliance and month-end procedures.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Salary: R35,000 – R40,000 per month, depending on experience.
