Job Overview: We are currently seeking an Airport Assistant to join our team at the Pietermaritzburg Airport in South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with various tasks and duties to ensure the smooth operation of the airport. Key Responsibilities: - Greet and assist passengers at the airport, providing them with information and directions as needed - Check and validate travel documents, such as passports and boarding passes - Assist with check-in and boarding procedures - Handle baggage and cargo, ensuring proper handling and loading onto aircraft - Monitor and maintain cleanliness and safety of the airport terminal - Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner - Collaborate with airport staff and other departments to ensure efficient operations - Perform general administrative tasks, such as data entry and filing - Adhere to all safety and security protocols at the airport - Other duties as assigned by the Airport Manager or Supervisor Qualifications and Skills: - High school diploma or equivalent - Previous experience in customer service or airport operations is preferred - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment - Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills - Basic computer skills and knowledge of airport systems is an asset - Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays - Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearances Working Conditions: This is a full-time, permanent position based at the Pietermaritzburg Airport.
