Assistant Manager

A luxury restaurant in Grahamstown is seeking a highly capable and trustworthy Assistant Manager to support the Operations Manager. This role involves overseeing the restaurant, coffee shop, and retail space, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, and taking full ownership of administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with proven management experience, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to lead with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage financial functions including invoicing, reconciliations, and budget tracking.
  




• Maintain and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  




• Ensure compliance with company policies, HR standards, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  




• Ensure the aesthetic standards of the restaurant, coffee shop, and retail space are maintained.
  




• Oversee daily operations in partnership with the Operations Manager.
  




• Make informed decisions during the Manager’s absence.
  

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a management or supervisory role.
  




• Experience in finance, bookkeeping, or stock management.
  




• Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  




• Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel) and POS systems.
  




• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  




• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  




• Experience in hospitality, retail, or the service industry is preferred.
  




• High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
  




• Self-motivated with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
