Boiler Specialist | Drive Critical Shutdown Projects in
the Pulp & Paper Industry

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Boiler Maintenance Specialist to join a leading international engineering organisation that
delivers specialised boiler maintenance, shutdown, and after-sales solutions to
the
pulp and paper industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a
hands-on mechanical engineering professional who thrives in customer-facing
environments and enjoys balancing technical expertise with commercial
responsibility.

Based in either Kyalami or Richards Bay, the successful
candidate will support customers throughout
KwaZulu-Natal, spending
approximately
50% of their time travelling to client sites to oversee
maintenance activities, shutdown projects, and technical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve
    as the primary technical contact for customers regarding after-sales
    boiler services.

  • Identify
    customer requirements and prepare quotations for spare and wear parts,
    responding proactively to inspection findings and customer enquiries.

  • Plan,
    coordinate, and support the execution of planned boiler shutdowns,
    maintenance outages, and inspections.

  • Conduct
    mechanical inspections and operational reviews to improve plant
    performance and reliability.

  • Lead
    or supervise shutdown activities on-site, ensuring projects are delivered
    safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Engage
    with customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders on both
    technical and commercial matters.

  • Coordinate
    local sourcing for shutdown work, including boiler pressure parts,
    workshop fabrication, and on-site installation.

  • Support
    the execution of projects involving internationally supplied equipment.

  • Ensure
    all work complies with contractual specifications and customer
    expectations while maintaining the highest safety standards.



Requirements

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree,
    BTech, National Higher Diploma, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Approximately
    10 years' post-qualification experience in boiler plant maintenance and
    operations.

  • Strong
    experience in industrial boiler maintenance, shutdown planning, and
    execution.

  • Experience
    working within the
    pulp and paper industry will be highly
    advantageous.

  • Ability
    to build strong customer relationships and communicate confidently on both
    technical and commercial matters.

  • Proven
    experience supervising maintenance or shutdown activities on industrial
    sites.

  • Strong
    planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Willingness
    to travel extensively throughout KwaZulu-Natal, with approximately 50%
    site-based travel.

  • Valid
    driver's licence.

Performance Measures

Success in this role will be measured through:

  • Achievement
    of after-sales and spare parts sales objectives.

  • Successful
    planning and delivery of shutdown projects.

  • Customer
    satisfaction and long-term relationship development.

  • Delivery of projects within agreed safety,
    quality, budget, and schedule requirements
