About the Opportunity


On behalf of a highly reputable accounting and advisory practice based in Kenilworth, we are urgently seeking a capable and proactive Bookkeeper / Payroll Administrator.


Our client provides top-tier outsourced bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance services to a broad SME client base. Due to an extended medical leave within their team, this critical role has opened up to ensure seamless continuity of service across their client payroll portfolio. Key Responsibilities


In this dual-focus role, you will manage the payroll administration for approximately 65 external clients while providing essential general bookkeeping support to the broader accounting team. Your daily duties will include:



  • Payroll Management: Processing and managing payroll for ~65 external clients.

  • Payments & Reconciliations: Processing salary payments and reconciling payroll accounts.

  • Compliance & Submissions: Preparing and submitting PAYE, UIF, and other statutory returns, alongside assisting with SARS compliance matters.

  • Reporting & Liaison: Handling monthly payroll reporting and directly liaising with clients regarding payroll queries.

  • Bookkeeping Support: Providing general bookkeeping support and maintaining highly accurate payroll and employee records.


What We Are Looking For


To hit the ground running in this fast-paced practice environment, you should meet the following criteria:



  • Qualifications: A Certificate or Diploma in Bookkeeping, Payroll, or Accounting.

  • Experience: 2+ years of payroll administration experience.

  • Practice Background: Experience processing multiple payrolls simultaneously (accounting practice experience is highly preferred).

  • Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of PAYE and statutory submissions, alongside hands-on experience with payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, SimplePay, VIP, etc.).

  • Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
