Job Description - Business Development Manager

A reputable company that offers tracker services seeks to employ a Business Development Manager to lead a team of high-performing sales specialists to drive the growth of new business sales and revenue within the business-to-business (B2B) market. This role is responsible for identifying and securing new commercial opportunities, building and maintaining key client relationships, and contributing to strategic growth by unlocking potential across various sectors.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:
  • Guide and support direct reports in achieving sales and customer acquisition targets.
  • Promote professional growth through coaching, performance improvement plans, and alignment with strategic intent.
  • Assist in preparing pricing and quotations in line with company policies.
Corporate Opportunity Development:
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across large and medium corporate clients.
  • Support teams in presenting solutions to stakeholders and managing tender submissions.
  • Develop commercial models and sales strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Collaborate with account managers to grow existing client relationships.
New Markets & Sector Expansion:
  • Research and evaluate new verticals to broaden the company’s market reach.
  • Build strategic cases and secure leadership buy-in for new segments.
  • Stay current on industry trends and engage decision-makers in targeted sectors.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Maintain strong internal and external relationships to ensure alignment and execution of strategic goals.
  • Participate in networking and industry events to gather market intelligence.
  • Act as a liaison to ensure clear communication and expectation management.
Financial Management:
  • Drive revenue growth by developing and executing financially viable sales strategies.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure delivery within budget and on time.
  • Assess financial risks and ROI of initiatives, and implement cost-optimisation strategies.


Requirements


  • National Diploma (NQF 6) in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Willing to work extended hours, and willing to travel.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a management role, specifically leading teams to achieve business development goals in a corporate environment.
  • Project management experience (desirable).
  • Proven track record in high-level sales (Hunter profile), with the ability to pitch to executives and senior managers.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team development and goal alignment.
  • Strong needs analysis capabilities to identify and address client challenges effectively.
In-depth knowledge of:
  • Fleet management principles and the broader industry landscape
  • RFI, RFQ, RFP, and tender processes
  • The company's products, especially technical specifications
