Job Description - Butchery Manager (based in Luanda, Angola)
The Butchery Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the butchery department, ensuring high-quality meat products, team efficiency, and compliance with health and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a customer-focused approach
Duties
Supervision and Team Management:
Lead, train, and motivate the butchery team to deliver high-quality work.
Manage staff schedules and allocate tasks to ensure productivity.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Operations and Production:
Oversee the production and preparation of various meat products.
Adjust production schedules based on customer demand to maintain product freshness.
Develop new recipes and propose them to management.
Product Quality and Safety:
Ensure all meat products meet quality and safety standards.
Supervise the preparation, cutting, packaging, and labeling of products.
Maintain hygiene standards to create a clean and safe work environment.
Inventory and Stock Management:
Monitor and replenish inventory levels to meet demand.
Manage stock rotation and minimize waste to control costs.
Analyze sales trends to adjust stock levels effectively.
Customer Service:
Provide excellent service by addressing customer inquiries and offering product recommendations.
Ensure attractive, clean, and organized product displays to boost sales.
Stay informed about market trends and customer preferences.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all food safety and labour regulations.
Prepare reports on sales, inventory, and staff performance for management.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records, including technical sheets, inventory logs, and employee schedules.
Assist with promotional materials and in-store displays for the marketing campaigns
Requirements
At least 5 years in a similar position within a reputable supermarket or hypermarket chain
Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and food safety standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
Fluent in English is essential and Portuguese is a plus.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a refrigerated environment.
