Candidate Quantity Surveyor

The Candidate Quantity Surveyor provides support in the measurement, costing, and contract administration of construction projects under the supervision of senior quantity surveyors. This entry-level role is intended for individuals enrolled with the SACQSP and working towards professional registration as a PrQS.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
• Support the evaluation of tenders and assist in drafting contract documentation.
• Conduct site visits to assist with measurements, progress tracking, and cost verification.
• Compile data for interim payment certificates, cost reports, and project financial records.
• Track variations and assist in maintaining accurate cost control documentation.
• Participate in the assessment and negotiation of final accounts under supervision.
• Attend project and site meetings to observe and contribute to cost and contractual discussions.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date records of cost data and correspondence.
• Follow relevant legislation, standards, and internal procedures under the guidance of a registered PrQS.
• Actively engage in professional development and log required experience for registration.
