CAPEX Project Procurement Specialist

Our client is seeking a skilled CAPEX Project Procurement Specialists to lead and manage procurement activities for capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, ensuring strategic sourcing, cost efficiency, and compliance with governance standards. The role focuses on infrastructure and consultant procurement, with a strong emphasis on skills transfer to internal buyers.

Location:

On-site at UKZN University, Durban (6-month contract with potential for extension)

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Execution

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for CAPEX projects.
• Lead end-to-end procurement processes for infrastructure and consulting services.
• Negotiate and draft major contracts, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines

Governance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with corporate governance and procurement policies.
• Conduct risk profiling and mitigation planning for project contracts.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with engineering, finance, and project management teams.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer to internal buyers for long-term capability building.

Performance Monitoring

• Track procurement KPIs, supplier performance, and cost savings.
• Report on procurement outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education Minimum BCom Degree (Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering preferred)
• 3+ years in CAPEX procurement, ideally in infrastructure projects
• Contract Management Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and manage complex contracts Systems & Tools Familiarity with procurement software (SAP, Oracle, etc.) 
• Soft Skills Strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills

Additional Requirements:

• Must be based in Durban or willing to relocate for the contract duration.
• Must be available to work on-site full-time (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm).
• Reference letters from previous CAPEX assignments are essential
