Job Description - Chief Financial Officer


Job Purpose



The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and operational management to TRT Manufacturing’s (TRTM) finance teams across South Africa, Benin, and other African regions. This role will align financial strategies with the company’s growth objectives, ensuring world-class financial governance, operational efficiency, and risk management.



This role's location can be either in South Africa or Benin.











Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities







  • Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with TRT Manufacturing’s vision and growth objectives.

  • Provide strategic financial insights to guide executive decision making and long-term business growth.

  • Lead initiatives to enhance financial performance, operational efficiency, and profitability.

  • Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Planning

  • Oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.

  • Ensure financial models and forecasts accurately reflect manufacturing business trends and market conditions.

  • Identify and monitor key financial KPIs to evaluate TRTM’s performance and growth potential.

  • Manage budgets and P&L to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.

  • Identify and allocate resources to high-impact areas.

  • Operational and Risk Management

  • Drive cost efficiency, and risk management initiatives across all operations.

  • Establish internal controls to ensure compliance with international financial standards, local regulations, and corporate governance requirements.

  • Manage cash flow and treasury operations to optimize liquidity and working capital.

  • Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across all countries of operations, meeting corporate and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with auditors and regulation authorities to ensure compliance with tax laws in each operational jurisdiction.

  • Standardize financial reporting systems and processes across all TRTM operations.

  • Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team across multiple countries, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.

  • Oversee talent acquisition, development, and succession planning within the finance function.

  • Promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing between finance teams.

  • Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key advisor to the General Manager, Board of Directors, and EXCO on financial matters.

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including investors, banks, and regulatory authorities, to foster confidence and transparency.

  • Collaborate with the General Manager and EXCO to support operational goals and market expansion strategies.






Requirements



Experience/Competencies & Qualifications



  • Ability to adapt to fast-changing environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) or professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA, CIMA) is highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of financial leadership experience, with a background in manufacturing or FMCG sectors.

  • Proven experience in managing financial operations across multiple African countries.

  • Expertise in financial planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strategic thinking.

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.

  • Analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in financial systems, ERP platforms, and data analytics tools.

  • Strong interpersonal and EQ skills.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Results oriented.

  • Sound business acumen.

  • Ability to adapt to fast-changing environments

  • Proficiency in contract negotiation and legal documentation.

  • Strong technical knowledge of property law and stakeholder management.

  • Pragmatic decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to travel extensively and manage on-the-ground responsibilities.

  • High adaptability and a collaborative mindset.

  • Passion for contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects and making a difference in Africa’s development.

  • Motivated by challenges and driven to be part of a significant, high-impact initiative.
