Civil Design Engineer

• Design and optimise civil layouts for renewable energy projects (Wind, PV, Storage, Power-to-X).
  
• Manage conceptual, preliminary, and detailed civil designs through development and pre-construction phases.
  
• Prepare technical schedules for construction contracts and Employers’ Requirements.
  
• Contribute to the development of Requests for Proposals (RfPs), bid evaluations, contractor selection, and technical documentation.
  

• Roads, crane pads, hardstands, and storm-water systems
  
• Power lines, cables, and substations
  
• Wind turbines and solar PV arrays
  
• Energy storage systems (ESS)
  
• Supporting infrastructure (construction camps, control centers, etc.)
  

• Support and supervise civil engineering advisors and contractors across the region.
  
• Integrate with global engineering and design teams.
  
• Contribute to building and refining internal technical infrastructure and design processes.
  

• Support the development and maintenance of a civil design database:
  
• Technical reports, plans, drawings, and diagrams
  
• Bills of Quantities and cost estimates
  
• Field surveys and site assessments
  

• Commercial & Project Management
  
• Demonstrate commercial awareness in project budgeting, cost control, and value engineering.
  
• Collaborate with commercial teams to deliver cost-effective design solutions.
  
• Provide proactive reporting on the progress of civil engineering aspects of projects.
  

• Interface with public authorities, communities, and government institutions to obtain design approvals and permits.
  
• Represent in industry forums, stakeholder engagements, and technical working groups.
  
• Advocate for and explore innovative design solutions and approaches in renewable energy.
  

• Lead technical workshops, compile knowledge, and standardise best practices.
  
• Exercise decision-making authority on civil engineering matters within defined project scopes.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (ECSA registration an advantage)
  
• 5+ years experience in civil design for energy, infrastructure, or construction projects
  
• Experience with renewable energy projects preferred (Wind, PV, Storage, etc.)
  
• Strong understanding of design standards, permitting, and construction practices
  
• Proficient in civil design tools and software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, etc.)
  
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  
• Commercial acumen and interest in contract management
