Cloud DB Consultant

A highly skilled Cloud Database Consultant is sought to design, implement, and manage robust database solutions across AWS and Azure platforms. This role requires extensive experience in cloud database technologies, migration strategies, performance tuning, automation, and high availability configurations. The ideal candidate will be confident working in global, agile environments and capable of contributing at both strategic and operational levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud-based database solutions.
  

• Migrate on-premises databases to AWS and Azure platforms.
  

• Optimize database performance, cost-efficiency, and security.
  

• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  

• Automate database operations using scripting tools (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  

• Collaborate with application, automation, and security teams to ensure compliance and performance.
  

• Provide expert-level support and root cause analysis of database issues.
  

• Stay current with evolving cloud database technologies and assess applicability.
  

• Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.
  

• Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and mentoring of junior team members.
  

• Act as a liaison to ensure consistency across global database practices.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• 8+ years in database administration or consulting.
  

• Expertise in at least two of the following: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server.
  

• Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure database services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB).
  

• Solid experience in performance tuning, security hardening, and high availability.
  

• Skilled in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  

• Knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and cloud-based replication.
  

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in fast-paced environments.
  

Advantageous Skills:

• Certifications in AWS or Azure database technologies.
  

• Experience with NoSQL databases.
  

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  

• Understanding of data governance and regulatory compliance.
  

• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Agile and DevOps methodologies.

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
