Job Description - Commercial & Finance Operations Lead
Red Ember Recruitment is seeking to hire a Commercial & Finance Operations Lead for a leading business unit. This role is ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in project -based environments and can bridge the gap between Sales, Operations, Delivery, and Finance.
As the Commercial & Finance Operations Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring financial governance, commercial viability, and operational excellence across a portfolio of projects. You will oversee Cost of Sales (COS), budgeting, invoicing, financial reporting, learner stipend management, supplier on boarding, and financial controls while working closely with cross -functional teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably and efficiently.
Ensure projects are financially viable before implementation.
Collaborate with Finance to align financial processes, governance, and reporting standards.
Maintain project financial structures within financial systems such as NetSuite, SAM, or similar platforms.
Manage the full invoicing life cycle, including purchase orders, invoice preparation, tracking, and revenue collection.
Monitor project budgets and ensure expenditure aligns with approved financial plans.
Review and approve expense requests, supplier payments, and purchase requisitions.
Manage client and supplier financial on boarding, including compliance documentation.
Oversee learner stipend administration, payroll validation, and payment processes.
Produce financial reports, reconciliation, and performance insights for leadership.
Act as the financial link between Sales, Delivery, and Finance to ensure seamless project execution.
Maintain strong financial governance, data integrity, and operational controls across the business unit.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
A relevant commercial or financial qualification will be advantageous.
Experience
5–8 years' experience in:
Financial Operations.
Commercial or Project Finance.
Budgeting and Cost Management.
Experience working within multi -project or programme -based environments.
Experience using financial systems such as NetSuite, SAM, or similar ERP platforms.
Technical Skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
Strong understanding of:
Cost of Sales (COS).
Financial reconciliation.
Budget management.
Invoicing and revenue management.
Experience with financial reporting and governance systems, including Smartsheet, NetSuite, SAM, or similar platforms.
