Job Description - Cost and Management Accountant


A health and wellness company, supplying non-prescription pharmaceutical, healthcare and cosmetics products is hiring a qualified and experienced Cost and Management Accountant to support the Finance Manager and Finance team. This is a hybrid role that requires three days in the office, and two days remote. Month-end reporting will require three consecutive days in the office from the 25th of the month.

You'll assume full responsibility for the management accounting function which includes:

Cost and Inventory Accounting: Manage Syspro inventory costing, update BOM standard costs, back-flush raw materials, analyse COGS, and investigate standard vs. actual variance and gross profit margins.

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close: Perform General Ledger close, complete GL reconciliations, prepare quarterly/annual accounts, submit group reporting via COGNOS and DIVA, and prepare year-end audit schedules following IFRS.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): Conduct financial, trend, and profitability analyses, build cash flow models, assist with budgeting and forecasts, and track revenue/margin drivers.

Tax, Compliance and Fixed Assets: Submit monthly VAT returns, assist with Annual Financial Statements and external audits, and maintain the Fixed Asset Register in Syspro (additions, disposals, depreciation).

Business Partnering and Systems Improvement: Provide financial insights to management, support business cases, strengthen internal controls, and optimise reporting tools and Syspro workflows.


Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree (BCom Accounting or Finance).

Professional Certification: CIMA, CA(SA), or ACCA qualification (or actively studying towards one).

Experience: 3–5 years of management accounting experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, or distribution environment.

Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP) and ERP system experience.

Core Competencies: Strong grounding in IFRS, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost accounting, and cash flow modeling.

Software and Systems knowledge: SYSPRO, DIVA, Power BI, Advanced Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP)
