Cost Controller

The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets, and supporting financial reporting to help maintain control over project expenditures. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to track financial performance and provide accurate, timely cost data throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Track cost performance and variances, and report findings to the project team and management.
• Assist in the preparation of cost reports, dashboards, and cash flow projections.
• Review and verify invoices, purchase orders, and cost data for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain cost control systems and ensure all financial data is current and reliable.
• Support change management by tracking and recording cost impacts of variations.
• Collaborate with planning and procurement teams to align cost and schedule data.
• Provide input for financial audits, project reviews, and internal compliance checks.
• Identify cost trends and assist in developing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Ensure cost control processes are followed in accordance with company and client standards.

National Diploma in Finance / Accounting / Commerce / Cost Management / Quantity Surveying

(NQF 6)

Related Experience

3-5 years in Finance / Cost Management / Cost Engineering / Project Accounting / Quantity Surveying

And Advantageous:

· 1 years Nuclear Power Plant or similar

· Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
