Creditors & Cashbook Clerk

A client in the Financial Services sector is seeking a full-time, on-site Creditors & Cashbook Clerk in Illovo, Johannesburg to start immediately. This this role manages the end-to-end creditors and cashbook function to ensure accurate transactional processing, payment execution, and precise ledger reconciliations. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, the position plays an integral part in maintaining robust financial controls and supporting routine accounting operations.

The role involves processing vendor transactions, managing daily banking activity across multiple platforms, executing international payments, and executing bank reconciliations. Additionally, the position holds responsibility for maintaining the petty cash float, facilitating workflow approvals, and delivering general finance administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute the full creditors function, ensuring accurate capturing, payment processing, journal postings, and monthly statement reconciliations.
  
• Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions in accordance with financial procedures.
  
• Verify vendor accounts by systematically reconciling monthly statements against related transactions.
  
• Prepare account analyses and compile accurate monthly reports to support financial oversight.
  
• Load daily, weekly, and monthly payments across various banking systems while ensuring required approvals and payee details are confirmed.
  
• Process entries in the accounting system and execute timely bank reconciliations.
  
• Prepare and process month-end journals and cross-border/international payments.
  
• Manage and maintain the petty cash float in line with internal control standards.
  
• Utilise internal workflow systems to capture, store, and manage all payment and approval information.
  
• Deliver general finance administration, secretarial support to the finance team, and additional junior bookkeeping tasks as required.
  
  

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Creditor & Cashbook Clerk.
  
• Proven experience working on banking platforms.
  
• Proficient in Pastel and Microsoft Excel.
  
• Prior experience handling international or cross-border payment processes would be advantageous.
