Job Purpose

• To lead and manage the Crime Analysis function within Group Financial Crime, Forensics and Security (GFCFS), driving the identification, analysis and dissemination of financial crime intelligence, emerging threats, criminal methodologies (MOs), typologies and trends.


• The role is responsible for representing Nedbank at SAMLIT, Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and other industry forums, transforming intelligence into actionable insights that strengthen financial crime controls, support regulatory compliance and enable the proactive prevention of financial crime risk across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Crime Intelligence and Analysis

• Lead the identification and analysis of financial crime trends, typologies, criminal methodologies and emerging risks.


• Analyse data, investigations, regulatory information and external intelligence sources to identify patterns, vulnerabilities and control weaknesses.


• Produce intelligence reports, threat assessments, trend analyses and strategic recommendations.


• Monitor local and international financial crime developments and assess impacts on the Group.

Industry and Regulatory Engagement

• Represent Nedbank at SAMLIT, FIC and other industry and regulatory forums.


• Prepare and deliver presentations on financial crime trends, typologies, threats and risk mitigation initiatives.


• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, law enforcement agencies, industry bodies and internal stakeholders.


• Coordinate and monitor actions arising from industry and regulatory engagements.

Risk Management and Prevention

• Drive an intelligence-led approach to financial crime risk management.


• Collaborate with AML, Fraud, Cybercrime, Forensic Investigations, Security and business stakeholders to identify risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.


• Recommend enhancements to controls, monitoring systems, customer due diligence processes and detection capabilities.


• Promote a preventative approach to financial crime management across the Group.

• Contribute to strategic initiatives, regulatory submissions and annual business planning.

Financial and Operational Management

• Contribute to the development of GFCFS strategy and business plans.


• Support budgeting, resource planning and cost management for the function.


• Drive operational excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.


• Support Nedbank's transformation, culture and employee engagement objectives.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

Preferred Qualification

• Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, Forensic Investigation, Commerce, Law, Risk Management, Intelligence Analysis or a related field

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)


• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)


• Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS)


• Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP)

Minimum Experience Level

• 5 to 8 years' experience in Financial Crime, AML, Fraud Risk Management, Intelligence Analysis, Regulatory Compliance or Forensic Investigations.


• Minimum 2 years' people management experience.


• Experience engaging with regulatory, industry and law enforcement forums.


• Experience preparing reports and presenting to senior stakeholders.
