About the role

Our client is hiring an ambitious graduate to join their UK farming operation as a Crop & Harvest Supervisor starting January 2026 (no exceptions). You’ll spend six months in the UK mastering high-performance soft-fruit production- then return to South Africa to apply your skills, with a clear pathway toward a permanent role in either the UK or SA based on performance.

Salary offered: Market related, details discussed with shortlisted candidates.

About the company

Our client is a modern, sustainability-minded grower supplying leading retailers. They blend science-led cultivation with a people-first culture, giving early-career talent real responsibility, tailored training, and mentorship to progress quickly.Responsibilities

  • Crop & husbandry: support stock control, crop care, spray and bio distribution, worm care, irrigation scheduling, environmental control, and proactive pest/disease prevention.
  • Harvest excellence: assist harvest planning; monitor quality and yields; drive labour productivity and efficiency; support basic equipment checks and maintenance.
  • Scheduling & targets: help prepare daily/weekly work plans with clear methods, targets, and labour allocation; track progress on the field and pack floor.
  • Quality standards: maintain crop and harvest quality to meet stringent retailer specifications.
  • Team leadership: lead by example with energy and organisation; help recruit, train, motivate, and supervise seasonal and permanent teams; promote a positive, high-performance culture.
  • People management basics: support performance monitoring and, where required, the grievance/disciplinary process in line with HR guidance.
  • Planning & reporting: contribute ideas to long-term plans and cost savings; monitor spend vs. budget and report variances; prepare daily/weekly updates for the Farm Director/Operations Manager; contribute in operational review meetings.
  • Compliance & safety: uphold Health & Safety across growing, husbandry, and harvest; complete risk assessments and champion safe equipment use; act as a trained First Aider when required.
  • Continuous improvement: surface ideas to boost crop health, harvest efficiency, and cost control; communicate clearly with peers and leadership; provide out-of-hours support during genuine emergencies.
  • Flexibility: undertake additional farm duties as reasonably required to support peak periods.

Requirements

  • Non-negotiable: Must be available to start in January 2026 and commit to the 6-month UK program, followed by return to SA.
  • Non-negotiable: 1-2 years experience in this field.
  • Non-negotiable: Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant/Biological Sciences, Agri-Business, or related field.
  • Evidenced interest in crop production/horticulture/sustainable agriculture (projects, internships, farm work, or research).
  • Strong communicator and team player who can motivate others; enthusiastic, adaptable, and keen to learn.
  • Solid organisation and attention to detail; comfortable with data, targets, and checklists.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including some weekends in peak season.
  • Helpful experience: soft-fruit or comparable crop work; basic agronomy, irrigation, plant nutrition, or pest/disease knowledge; prior supervision in any context (work, sport, societies, volunteering).
  • Basic understanding of workplace Health & Safety.
  • Non-negotiable: Valid driving license to travel between sites.
  • Relocation-ready (our client covers costs and facilitates required logistics/documentation).

What is on offer

  • Full relocation to the UK covered by our client for the program, plus support on return to SA.
  • In-person interview in Hermanus covered by our client.
  • Competitive graduate compensation with overtime/peak-season allowances and clear promotion milestones.
  • Structured training, certifications (including First Aid), and mentorship in a technology-enabled, sustainability-focused environment.
  • A defined pathway to a permanent role in SA or the UK based on performance, potential, and business need.
