Job Description - Customer Services Technician


 


About the Role


The Customer Services Technician provides technical support, preventative and corrective maintenance, fault resolution and field services for electronic systems throughout their operational lifecycle. The role supports customers locally and internationally to maximise system availability, reliability and performance while maintaining required quality, safety and customer-service standards


 


Qualification and experience:



  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or an applicable NQF Level 6 qualification.

  • 3–5 years’ relevant experience working with electronic hardware and/or software systems.

  • Experience within a systems engineering, defence, communications or technology-based environment.

  • Electronic Warfare experience will be advantageous.

  • Exposure to import and export processes will be advantageous.

  • Ability to travel locally and internationally as operationally required.

Key responsibilities:


System Maintenance and Technical Support


Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, calibrations, fault finding and repairs on electronic systems and sub-systems to restore and maintain equipment functionality, resulting in improved system serviceability, reliability and operational availability.


 


Customer and Field Support


Provide responsive on-site and remote technical support to customers, colleagues and subcontractors throughout system operations to diagnose and resolve technical issues, resulting in effective service delivery and strengthened customer relationships.


 


System Verification, Quality and Safety


Execute system testing, quality-assurance activities and Acceptance Test Procedures in accordance with technical, safety and regulatory requirements to verify system performance and address non-conformances, resulting in compliant and operationally safe systems.


 


Technical Optimisation and Continuous Improvement


Identify and implement improvements to system performance, maintenance practices and fault-resolution processes while providing technical feedback to engineering and product teams to strengthen support effectiveness, resulting in improved reliability and reduced service turnaround times.


 


Technical Administration and Reporting


Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, test, fault-resolution and service records throughout technical-support activities to provide operational traceability and stakeholder visibility, resulting in controlled service delivery and reliable technical reporting.
