We are searching for a solution-focused desktop support technician to provide our employees with hands-on, systematic support. The desktop support technician should receive IT-related concerns, and then proceed to diagnose and solve these issues. You should also ensure the regular maintenance of our IT infrastructure.
To be successful as a desktop support technician, you should be highly skilled in the fitting and upkeep of computers and their networks. A remarkable desktop support technician will gauge the computer proficiency of every individual, and then proceed to tailor their services in a suitable manner.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Install, configure, deploy, and maintain PC hardware, MS operating systems and software.
- Provide phone, e-mail/instant messaging, and hands-on support to associates mainly in South Africa but also in other remote locations if required. Maintain records of incidents and request in ticketing systems.
- Troubleshoot incidents with computer systems, including hardware and software, messaging, network, printers, telephony, peripheral equipment, and accessories; make repairs and corrections where necessary.
- Provide support for global and local applications, participate in application deployment, testing and validation. Participate also in local, regional, and global projects and process improvement activities, occasionally leading them.
- Work with infrastructure support teams and external contractors to install, configure, and deploy servers, network hardware and other infrastructure equipment. Provide hands-on support when required.
- Management of Physical Access control to the premises, Adding and removing of associates, creation of access cards, liaising with HR of all OpCo’s to ensure access is correct.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as Desktop Support Engineer or Support Technician.
- Completion of CompTIA certifications – e.g. A+, Network+, etc.
- Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and remote connection systems: Office 365, SharePoint Expert, Application development, MS Power Platform, Scripting knowledge, etc.
- Experience Manufacturing R&D Commercial environments.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
