Key Purpose:
The Procurement Capabilities & Transformation Director for Africa Zone partners with the VP Procurement to drive transformation, governance, and capability enablement across the Procurement function. The role focuses on designing and executing scalable solutions that improve compliance, contract visibility, systems adoption, and ways of working. It enables Procurement performance through strong programme management, technology implementation, capability building, and data-driven decision-making, while supporting senior stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship initiatives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Drive Strategic Programmes and PMO Execution
- Lead planning, governance, and execution of key Africa Procurement programmes aligned to strategic priorities
- Own PMO governance including tracking milestones, risks, dependencies, and reporting to VP Procurement and leadership
- Manage centralised initiatives including Sourcing Calendar Management, Cost Transformation programmes, and Technology implementations
Executive Support and Business Partnering
- Partner closely with the VP Procurement on executive presentations to senior stakeholders
- Identify tools and solutions to improve Procurement ways of working
Contract Management and Compliance
- Define and drive Contract Management strategy and governance across Africa Zone
- Ensure compliance to Procurement policies, controls, and audit requirements
- Improve contract visibility, lifecycle management, and embed standardised compliance tracking and reporting
ProMS (Procurement Management System)
- Drive adoption, optimisation, and continuous improvement of ProMS and related Procurement tools
- Tracking and Monitoring for Procurement Excellence Program for Africa Zone
Procurement Blueprint and Process Optimisation
- Own optimisation of the Procurement Blueprint across Africa Zone
- Simplify and standardise processes to improve efficiency and user experience
- Identify and eliminate inefficiencies across sourcing, contracting, and operational processes
Capability Building for Procurement and Greater Business
- Lead capability building strategy for Procurement and broader business stakeholders in Africa Zone
- Develop and deploy training programmes focused on sourcing, compliance, systems, and Procurement processes
- Manage the Sourcing Pool pipeline to ensure visibility, prioritisation, governance, and value delivery
Procurement Engagement & Communication Plan
- Define and execute the Procurement Communication Plan for employees and supplier communication across Africa Zone
- Lead planning and implementation of the One Supply Chain Convention
- Ensure alignment, clarity, and engagement across internal and external stakeholders
Supplier Relationship Management Enablement
- Enable Supplier Relationship Management through structured programmes and engagement
- Lead Africa Supplier Summit planning, content, and execution
- Drive Supplier Newsletter and strengthen value creation with strategic suppliers
Reporting, Data and Analytics Optimisation
- Drive standardisation and optimisation of Procurement reporting across Africa Zone
- Develop clear dashboards and performance tracking aligned to KPIs
- Enable data-driven decision making through improved analytics and insights
Technology Enablement
- Identify, implement, and scale digital solutions to improve Procurement efficiency and transparency
- Partner with IT and global teams to define Procurement system requirements and enhancements
- Drive automation, digitalisation, and technology implementation across the Procurement function
Profile
- Academic background: Relevant university/bachelor's degree is essential. A recognised qualification in Procurement or Supply Chain would be considered an advantageous.
- Experience: Strong professional experience in Procurement, transformation, and programme management, preferably in an international/multi-country environment.
- Leadership: Previous line management and team development experience required.
