Electrical Foreman

Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

Salary: R45,000 – R48,000 CTC per month (dependent on experience)

Environment: Manufacturing/Heavy Industry/Marine 

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Electrical Foreman to take full accountability for our Durban electrical department. In this role, you will lead the execution of all electrical projects and oversee rigorous maintenance strategies to ensure maximum plant productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  Team Leadership: Provide hands-on management and supervision to qualified electricians, assistants, apprentices, and external contractors.

  
  


• 
  

  Maintenance & Planning: Schedule, assign, and manage preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment, with a strong focus on crane systems.

  
  


• 
  

  Project Engineering: Estimate time and material requirements for upcoming electrical jobs, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  
  


• 
  

  Technical Excellence: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and complex troubleshooting of electrical issues.

  
  


• 
  

  Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict compliance with the company’s Health & Safety (OHSAS) and Quality Control policies.

  
  

Minimum Requirements

• 
  

  Qualifications: Certified Electrician (Passed Trade Test) + Valid Wireman’s Licence.

  
  


• 
  

  Voltage Expertise: Proven Medium Voltage (MV) experience and valid MV certification are non-negotiable.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience Level: Minimum of 12 years’ post-apprenticeship experience, including at least 5 years in a proven supervisory/foreman capacity.

  
  


• 
  

  Industry Focus: Strong background in maintenance within a manufacturing, heavy engineering, or ship repair environment.

  
  


• 
  

  Technical Niche: Direct, hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining crane systems is strictly required.

  
  


• 
  

  Added Advantage: A formal qualification in Electrical Engineering (N6 / National Diploma / BTech) is highly preferred.
