Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 40hr/week, M-F, 6a-2:30p
Full-time employment preferred, but part-time (20hr/week) will be considered (no benefits)
Pay: $14.96 - $21.70, commensurate with experience
Benefits after the probationary period and full-time employment: Insurance, Retirement
Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, does work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment and other related duties as assigned.
Examples of Duties and Essential Responsibilities
• Inspects, repairs, installs, alters, services, and maintains electrical systems, including conduit
and duct systems, light and power systems, motor appliances, generators, control
equipment and switches, switchboards, fans, heaters, fixtures, boilers, bells and buzzer
systems, clocks, and fire alarm systems.
• Installs necessary interior and exterior wiring for equipment and appliances.
• Wires new and altered buildings.
• Performs troubleshooting work to locate defects in electrical systems.
• Estimates time and materials required for electrical maintenance and repair activities.
• Interprets electrical plans and specifications and checks for conformity to codes, regulations,
and safety orders.
• May be required to work in other trade areas on a temporary basis.
• May drive a district vehicle as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent completion of electrician coursework
Experience: One year of journeyman-level experience in the electrical field
Licenses and Other Requirements: DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance, Oklahoma driver’s
License, State of Oklahoma Electrical Journeyman License
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
• Materials, methods, and tools used to operate and repair electrical systems.
• Health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Basic record-keeping techniques.
• Electrical terms and materials and the circuits used in buildings.
• Kitchen, heating, ventilating, and blower equipment.
• Portable hand tools, stationary power tools, and distribution systems.
• Electrical blueprints.
• Test equipment such as ohmmeters, monitors, volt meters, probes, etc.
• Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to:
1. Install, repair, modify, and maintain various electrical equipment and systems.
2. Plan, design, organize, and coordinate electrical work.
3. Use, operate, and maintain hand and power tools and equipment used in performing electrical
maintenance and repair work.
4. Read and follow plans, blueprints, sketches, specifications, and diagrams of electrical work.
5. Make accurate arithmetical computations.
6. Maintain routine records and reports.
7. Understand and follow oral and written directions.
8. Observe legal and defensive driving techniques.
9. Perform duties effectively, timely, and without supervision.
10. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
11. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
• Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90
degrees at times.
• Regular exposure to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
• Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
• Exposure to heights and loud noises.
• Work directly with the public, students, and other District staff.
• Exposure to the electrical power supply and high voltage.
• Working on ladders at varying heights.
Physical Demands and Hazards
• Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
• Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
• Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.
• Working with tools and powered machinery.
