Electronic Security Systems Technician 

A leading international electronic security technology provider is seeking an experienced Electronic Security Systems Technician to support its expanding South African operations.

You will act as the regional technical specialist, working directly with installation partners, customers, and internal teams to ensure systems are installed, configured, and maintained to the highest standards.

Requirements

Technical Installation, Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide hands -on Level technical support for electronic security systems, both in -office and on site.
  

• Perform fault -finding, diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning of CCTV, access control, alarm, and intrusion systems.
  

• Assist with on -site Proof -of -Concept installations, system setup, and performance testing.
  

• Diagnose hardware, cabling, network, and configuration issues across multiple security platforms.
  

• Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, site drawings, and system layouts.
  

• Support installation quality by assisting partners during complex or escalated installations.
  

Partner & Installer Support

• Act as the technical point of contact for installers, distributors, and system integrators.
  

• Provide practical guidance on installation methods, system configuration, and best practices.
  

• Assist with system upgrades, expansions, and troubleshooting during live installations.
  

Training & Technical Enablement

• Deliver practical, in -person technical training to installers and field technicians.
  

• Develop installation manuals, wiring guides, commissioning checklists, and setup documentation.
  

• Ensure partners are confident and competent working with the product range.
  

Pre -Sales & Project Support

• Support the sales team with technical site assessments, system design input, and demonstrations.
  

• Assist with solution design, equipment selection, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  

• Attend customer meetings and site walk -throughs to provide practical technical advice.
  

Collaboration & Feedback

• Work closely with international engineering teams on escalations and product alignment.
  

• Provide real -world feedback from installations and sites to support product improvement.
  

• Collaborate with the local sales team while maintaining technical independence and objectivity.
  

Work Environment & Travel

• Office -based role located in Johannesburg West / Roodepoort.
  

• Regular site visits within Gauteng for installations, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  

• Occasional travel to major centres (Cape Town, Durban) — approximately 6 trips per year.
  

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven hands -on experience with electronic security systems:
  

  • CCTV
    

  • Access control
    

  • Intrusion alarms
    

  • Low -voltage electronic systems
    

• Strong background in fault -finding, repairs, servicing, and commissioning.
  

• Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, and site layouts.
  

• Practical knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (IP addressing, switching, DHCP).
  

• Comfortable working on -site with installers, technicians, and customers.
  

• Strong communication skills, particularly when explaining technical concepts.
  

• Self -motivated and capable of working independently as the regional technical specialist.
  

• Able to balance office -based coordination with hands -on fieldwork.
  

Qualifications

• N6 Diploma, National Diploma, or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  

• Relevant experience in CCTV, access control, alarms, intrusion, or electronic security.
  

• CAD experience (advantageous).
  

• Vendor certifications such as Hikvision, Axis, Gallagher, Lenel, Milestone, Bosch are beneficial.
