Role Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Executive Reward Consultant (Legal) to join our People and Organisation: Executive Reward & Share Schemes practice in Gauteng Johannesburg or Cape Town.
In this role, you will work as part of a high-performing team, delivering strategic, compliant and market-leading executive reward solutions to clients. You will play a pivotal role in advising organisations on complex remuneration structures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, governance standards and evolving market trends.
Key Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will:
Draft and review high-quality legal documentation relating to long-term incentive and share plans, including plan rules and award documentation.
Provide technical and regulatory advisory services, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as JSE Listings Requirements and the Companies Act, including engagement with sponsors, external counsel and regulators.
Develop clear, compelling employee communications for both short- and long-term incentive plans.
Deliver insightful reviews of client remuneration structures, including benchmarking, gap analysis and the formulation of practical, value-adding recommendations for executive teams and Remuneration Committees.
Support clients in enhancing remuneration reporting and disclosure, aligned to King IV principles and leading governance practices.
Monitor and analyse institutional investor trends and voting behaviours, translating insights into actionable guidance on remuneration design and disclosure.
Stay ahead of emerging global and local executive reward trends, providing thought leadership and advisory support to clients and internal stakeholders.
Conduct in-depth research across legal, tax and regulatory themes impacting executive reward and incentive design.
Draft technical tax opinions on executive remuneration structures, including share schemes, trusts and broad-based employee schemes.
Collaborate with PwC global network firms, advising on cross-border implications of incentive arrangements and delivering integrated, globally consistent solutions to clients.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting delivery excellence and trusted advisor status.
Build and maintain strong internal relationships, supporting collaboration across teams and lines of service.
Project manage client engagements, ensuring quality delivery, risk management, and effective cost control.
Contribute to thought leadership and client publications, enhancing PwC’s market presence in executive reward.
Participate in client meetings and presentations, supporting senior team members and contributing insights.
Qualifications & Certifications
Admitted Attorney (essential)
BCom LLB, HDip Tax, or LLM in Tax or Commercial Law (advantageous)
Experience
1–3 years’ post article experience in commercial law or employment law
Exposure to executive reward, incentives, or employee benefits will be advantageous
