We are seeking a driven and hands-on Field Sales Lead to oversee and support ikeja’s field sales representatives while actively driving sales performance in the communities we serve. This is a field-based leadership role that requires daily presence on the ground - engaging with customers, guiding the sales team and ensuring that targets are consistently achieved.
The ideal candidate is someone who leads from the front, understands how to motivate and performance manage a sales team in the field and is comfortable working in dynamic community environments. You will be responsible for managing and performance managing field sales representatives, ensuring sales activities are executed effectively and supporting the team in converting opportunities into successful activations.
You will also play a key role in translating commercial strategy into clear daily field execution, ensuring discipline, accountability and strong sales momentum across the team.
This role requires someone who is visible, proactive and accountable, capable of representing ikeja positively in the communities we operate in while ensuring strong operational discipline among the sales team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage field sales representatives, ensuring they are active, visible and effectively engaging customers in their assigned areas.
Performance manage field sales representatives, including monitoring targets, addressing underperformance, providing coaching and driving accountability.
Ensure the team is consistently working towards and achieving sales targets.
Plan and manage field sales activity across assigned township territories, ensuring teams are deployed effectively in high-potential areas.
Provide on-the-ground coaching and guidance to improve sales performance and customer engagement.
Visit customers in the community to support sales activities and address customer queries where required.
Represent ikeja positively and act as a brand ambassador in the communities we serve.
Hold regular team meetings in the field to align on targets, strategy and performance.
Handle customer and operational escalations in a professional and solutions-focused manner.
Support and oversee community activations, promotional campaigns and local engagement initiatives to increase visibility and drive sales.
Ensure responsible sales practices and proper customer qualification, helping ensure installations convert into active paying customers.
Report on team performance, sales outcomes and field insights to management.
Provide feedback on market conditions, competitor activity and customer sentiment from the field.
Be actively present in the field during key sales drives, activations and community engagement initiatives, with flexibility to work weekends from time to time based on operational requirements.
Attend meetings at Head Office when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of a matric certificate (Grade 12).
3 - 5 years’ experience in field sales.
1 - 2 years’ experience in a team leader or supervisory role.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
Experience working in community or township sales environments.
Experience managing sales activations or promotions advantageous.
Valid driver’s licence (for at least one year) is a strict requirement as well as willingness to travel across the Gauteng region.
Flexibility to work extended hours when required.
