The Role: Field Technician
The purpose of this role is to conduct routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and day-to-day operations on localized potable water treatment systems. The focus areas include monitoring water quality compliance, managing chemical dosing systems, and responding to urgent field callouts to minimize system downtime for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize 2–4 years of experience to conduct routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on potable water treatment equipment including multimedia filters, carbon filters, water softeners, dosing pumps, and Reverse Osmosis membranes.
Oversee the commissioning, servicing, and day-to-day operation of localized potable water treatment systems, package plants, and borehole filtration setups.
Draw field samples and utilize portable test kits to monitor critical parameters to ensure compliance with SANS 241 guidelines.
Monitor, replenish, and calibrate chemical dosing systems including coagulants, disinfectants, and antiscalants.
Respond to urgent field callouts regarding plant breakdowns, pipe leakages, system faults, or water quality drops.
Provide basic operational feedback and training to clients or local facility operators on-site.
Travel extensively within the designated region to various commercial, agricultural, or community sites.
Interact with PLC automation interfaces and telemetry systems.
About You
2–4 years of experience working directly with potable water purification systems, package plants, or water bottling facilities.
N4–N6 in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering, or a National Diploma in Engineering or Water Care.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including basic wiring, pump repairs, and pipe fitting.
Valid Code B or C1 driver's licence and a willingness to travel extensively.
Practical and solutions-driven approach to troubleshooting and maintenance.
Experience with PLC automation interfaces and telemetry systems
