Finance Manager

Absolute Pets is the leading pet care retailer in South Africa with over 170 stores nationwide. The Company caters to a high-end customer with premium products for pets ranging from pet food to health & wellness products and accessories. Absolute Pets is looking for a Finance Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will work within the finance team and will be managing the GRV and Creditors team.

The position will report into the Senior Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing and reconciliation of monthly financial information
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including but not limited to monthly departmental reports
• Analysing financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and support strategic decision-making.
• Management of the GRV/RTS and Creditors teams.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with key creditors and suppliers
• Ensure compliance with suppliers’ contracts and agreements.
• Cash flow management
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
• Assist with the preparation and execution of the annual budget.
• Assist with the external audit processes and address any control deficiencies.
• Ad hoc projects
• Processing of foreign payments
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure timely payments to suppliers.
• Provide financial guidance and support to other departments within the company.

Qualifications and experience

• CA with 1 year post articles experience
• Articles completed with Big 4 firm preferred.
• Exceptional excel skills are a pre-requisite.
• Experience working in retail is advantageous.
• IQ Retail experience is advantageous.
