The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that the Producers get paid in the right currency, where applicable, but also make sure that all the income and expenses pertaining to a sale is recovered correctly to calculate an accurate return to grower. The producer accountant provides accounting support to the producer accountants, internal departments, customers, and growers and administers all accounting and reporting related to growers.
Key Performance Outputs
Calculate grower advances based on forecasted returns and agreed terms
Ensure that all payments are processed in the correct currency
Submit payment requests and ensure payments are made accurately and on time
Communicate payment details and respond to grower queries
Verify all income generated from local and export sale
Ensure credits, claims, and adjustments are processed promptly and accurately
Reconcile sales income with ERP reports and resolve discrepancies
Maintain audit-ready records and support internal reporting needs
Track and reconcile all sales and cost-related transactions weekly
Maintain a detailed record of income and costs per grower and commodity
Analyse trends in costs and returns, including exchange rate impacts
Prepare clear and structured reports for internal and grower use
Analyse and report on the impact of currency exchange rate differences
Ensure foreign currency transactions are translated accurately
Support in forecasting grower returns across different markets
Compile and manage payment schedules across multiple producer accounts
Coordinate payment processing with the finance team
Ensure all transactions are captured and reconciled within the ERP system (e.g. NetSuite, Oracle, SAP)
Identify inefficiencies in current processes and contribute to improvements
Requirements
Qualification / Experience
Relevant Financial/Cost and management accounting qualification. E.g. Diploma or Degree.
1 to 2 years of cost accounting work experience.
Sound understanding of accounting principles
Knowledge of agriculture practices and an understanding of challenges in the industry
Inventory, Production, cost experience
Advance excel skills for reporting & calculating purposes using large volumes of data
Functional / Technical
Computer literacy: MS Office (Excel, Word)
Excellent Email etiquette
ERP systems knowledge
Basic accounting principles
Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Building and maintaining good interpersonal relationships.
