Financial Specialist

About the Position

SARS is looking for a self-motivated, passionate person who can work independently with multiple cross-functional teams, various internal stakeholders and systems/tools. This person will join a highly motivated and capable team and take responsibility for implementing sound practices within well-governed processes.

He/she must be a team player and have the ability to perform efficiently and effectively without constant supervision and guidance.

The candidate we are looking for must be a Fleet Specialist with a strong finance background and experience in these two (2) aforementioned areas of expertise.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate must have excellent organizational and communications skills and must have the ability to handle time-sensitive tasks.  He/she will have to demonstrate the required knowledge and experience in fleet management, accounting activities, general ledger- and vendor account reconciliations. He/she should be familiar with audits and Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP) and is required to have strong fleet management and financial accounting knowledge and experience.

Knowledge of Fleet Management ie Traffic Fines Management, fleet billing, service level agreement, Vehicle Registration, Licensing and roadworthy certificates, Toll Fees Management, management of vehicle bookings, driver Identification Management, Fleet Disposals Management, Fleet Insurance, Accident Management and Repairs

Our ideal candidate will join a highly motivated and capable team where he/she will apply concepts of knowledge/skills and take responsibility for  specific Fleet Management, Finance related transactions / tasks. He/she will also be responsible for the day-to-day fleet management function and related financial transactions and procedures for all SARS fleet cars / automobiles, in line with the approved policies and procedures.

This role is located within the CFO – Finance – Own Accounts Unit within the organisation. 

Job Purpose

To align and give advice on finance business plans in order to achieve divisional objectives.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Relevant B-Comm Degree in Accounting / Advanced Diploma in Accounting (NQF 7) AND 5-7 years' experience in a Finance or similar financial environment, of which 2-3 years at a technically skilled level.

#Alternative

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 10 years related experience in a Finance or similar financial environment, of which 2-3 years at a technically skilled level.

Note: The alternative qualifications and experience refer to the internal minimum requirements (internal staff of SARS).

• Participate and engage the SARS external auditors in their annual regularity audit in the Own Accounting domain and also participate/interact in the Head Office Audit Liaison domain in facilitating the annual audit engagement.
