Geospatial Specialist (CH1022)

Our client is a leader in the retail industry with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and innovation.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Geospatial Specialist with a keen interest in retail to join their property team. The successful candidate will utilise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and advanced data analytics to derive insights and optimise decision making. You will be responsible for analysing geographic data and making recommendations to the business. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors degree in geography, Geo-informatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Spatial Analytics, Business Analytics or another related field
• Proven experience of 3 - 5 years working in a GIS or spatial analytics role, preferably within the retail industry.
• Knowledge of location intelligence tools, such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, ArcGis Enterprise, mapping software, and demographic analysis tools.
• Proficiency in Arcgis software, along with proficiency in spatial database management (e.g., PostgreSQL, PostGIS).
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience using BI reporting tools (e.g. Looker, QlikView, Tableau, Microsoft BI, etc.) will be an advantage.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Location Intelligence (GIS) - Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the retail property market and its dynamics. Utilise location intelligence tools and techniques to support site selection, market expansion, and territory planning efforts and to assess potential store locations, evaluate market demographics, identify gaps and analyse competition.
• Client Consultation - Engage with clients to understand their geospatial needs, challenges, and objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes, requirements, and deliverables.
• Spatial Data Analysis - Utilise GIS software and tools to analyse spatial data, including geographic features, demographic information and customer behaviour patterns. Apply statistical techniques and spatial modelling to extract meaningful insights and develop spatial models and algorithms to solve complex retail-related problems and optimise business processes.
• Data Collection, Management and Analysis - Gather and collect relevant data from various sources, including internal databases, external vendors, and market research reports. Perform data cleansing, data validation, and ensure data integrity. Analyse data to identify patterns, trends, and insights related to property sourcing and location intelligence.
• Solution Design : Develop customised geospatial solutions tailored to client requirements. Design GIS workflows, data collection methodologies, and spatial analysis techniques to address specific business challenges.
• GIS Software Expertise:
  • Proficiency in GIS software platforms such as ArcGIS for data visualisation, spatial analysis, and map production.
  • Familiarity with GIS programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for automation, scripting, and geoprocessing tasks.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in GIS technology and retail analytics tools to enhance capabilities and efficiency.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Document GIS methodologies, data sources, and analysis procedures to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and visualisations to communicate findings, recommendations, and insights to stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of GIS solutions and retail analytics initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
• Present data-driven recommendations and insights to management and other relevant teams. Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and accessibility of reports and visualisations.
• Business Strategy and Decision Support - Collaborate with the property team and business to understand their objectives and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making. Conduct strategic analysis and forecasting to identify opportunities and risks related to property sourcing and location intelligence. Assist in the development and implementation of business strategies based on data-driven insights.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively . Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Technical Support : Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding GIS software, data formats, analysis techniques, and best practices. Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance client capabilities in geospatial technologies.
• Champion the adoption of GIS solutions and geospatial best practices across the organisation through training, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement.
