Hello… an exciting new opportunity has just become available in our Group Marketing, in the Commercial
Marketing area. We are looking to recruit a Head: Commercial Marketing.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Commercial Marketing to lead our dynamic commercial marketing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial marketing, including go-to-market campaign plans and performance, media strategy, planning and buying, commercial customer insights and analytics, as well as digital marketing. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving results and maximising ROI across various marketing channels

Key Objectives

  • Marketing Growth Strategies: Develop and implement innovative marketing growth strategies to expand market share, acquire new customers, and increase revenue. Identify untapped marketing opportunities and develop plans to capitalise on them effectively. Collaborate with product development teams to align marketing strategies with product launches and enhancements. Continuously evaluate and refine marketing strategies based on market trends, competitive analysis, and customer feedback to ensure sustained growth. Implement scalable and measurable marketing initiatives to drive long-term business growth and profitability.
  • Integrated go-to-market plans: Develop comprehensive go-to-market plans that integrate marketing, sales, channel and product strategies to drive successful product launches and market penetration. Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of go-to-market initiatives across all touchpoints. Define clear positioning, messaging, and value propositions for target markets and customer segments. Utilise a mix of marketing channels and tactics to create awareness, generate demand, and drive adoption of products and services. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of go-to-market strategies and adjust plans as needed to optimise results and achieve business objectives

Campaign Performance Management: Develop and implement strategies to maximise the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Analyse campaign performance metrics and KPIs to identify areas for optimisation and improvement. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of campaign objectives.

  • Media Strategy, Planning and Buying: Lead the development of media strategies to reach target audiences and achieve business objectives. Oversee media planning and buying activities for all South African business units across traditional and digital channels. Negotiate contracts with media partners to ensure favorable terms, discounts and optimal placement.
  • Commercial Insights and Analytics: Manage commercial insights in an integrated manner across the business. Utilise data-driven insights to understand market and segment behaviour, preferences, and trends. Drive implementation of actionable insights across the business. Implement analytics tools and methodologies to measure marketing effectiveness and ROI.
  • Digital marketing: Develop and drive the digital marketing strategy, including digital direct marketing, social media, and content marketing. Lead internal teams and external agencies to execute digital campaigns effectively.
    • Digital Platform Management: Oversee the management and optimisation of digital platforms, including websites, mobile apps, and e-commerce platforms. Collaborate with IT and digital teams to ensure the functionality, usability, and performance of digital platforms meet business objectives. Implement strategies to enhance user experience, drive engagement, and increase conversion rates on digital platforms.

    Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improving digital platform capabilities.

    • Budget Management: Develop and manage the commercial marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve desired outcomes within budgetary constraints.
    • Leadership & Team Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture that encourages innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Cross-functional collaboration. Collaborate with internal functions such as strategy, product development, channel, marketing teams and lead external agencies to develop commercial marketing plans.
